EBU During the first half of 2006 the audio codec working group of the German public broadcasters started an initiative on standardization of IP audio codecs. Very soon the decision was made to transfer this work to the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) which established the N/ACIP (Audio Contribution over IP) as a technical project group. It is composed of more than 25 members from different broadcasters. Manufacturers also have been included to work on standardization for interoperability between equipment. The EBU group N/ACIP, in cooperation with manufacturers, aims to develop an interoperability standard for equipment for audio contribution over IP. A second target is to create an EBU recommendation on operational practices for audio contribution over IP. After comprehensive discussions, tests and measurements in the different EBU members laboratories the first standard was issued in October 2007.
